hey, hey, HEY!!!!

Here's an upcoming event that I'm SURE you won't want to miss so come on out, this upcoming Tuesday, September 29th, 7pm-9pm, at The Royal Cinema (608 College St. West, Toronto, $10 admission) for the Toronto premiere of the 2009 documentary "Cat City"!

I haven't seen the film but it promises to be an extremely honest and unrepentant look at the current issue of cat overpopulation in Toronto. Here's the trailer http://www.youtube.co... for the film which looks quite compelling as well. As well, here's a blurb from the promoters:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On any given night in Toronto it is estimated that over 100,000 lost, abandoned and feral cats roam the city streets. Never spayed or neutered these cats produce thousands of offspring adding to the burgeoning number of homeless pets.
For years, euthanizing unwanted animals has been seen as a viable solution by animal control agencies to deal with cat overpopulation. Now cat rescue groups, shelter workers and humane societies alike are calling for a stop to the needless killing of healthy, adoptable animals and are demanding humane alternatives.
Cat City takes the viewer into the heart of the issue of cat overpopulation by going to the frontlines of the crisis in Canada, following grassroots activists, shelter workers and cat lovers as they tirelessly work to rescue these lost and abandoned animals.
What does it tell us about our society when an animal becomes as disposable as a pop can?
Featuring Toronto Cat Rescue,
Second Chance Sanctuary and independent cat rescuers.
So, although the movie starts at 7pm I'm suggesting that anyone who would like to try and meetup so we could head in as a group be in front of the theatre sometime between 6:30 and 6:45pm. I'm shooting for 6:30 myself as I'm not sure what the lineups will be like. Take a look at my profile pics on here if you don't know me so you'll recognize me. Afterward I'm thinking (for anyone who'd like and is able to) we could head off somewhere local for a beverage/bite/chat, etc... so we can share thoughts on the film (or anything else for that matter!).
As well, here's a link to a google map of the theatre: http://maps.google.ca...
The cinema is on the College Streetcar line and about a 15 minute walk south from Christie Station. If you're taking the subway please note that there is no transit connection from that station to College St. If that's what you're looking for you'll need to go to either Ossington or Bathurst stations and head south from there to College where you can transfer to the College Streetcar or simply walk (about a 6-8 minute walk from either intersection).
There should be on street parking available on both College and side streets for those who will be driving.
Questions? Comments? Salutations? Feel free to contact me through email or on my cell ([masked]).
Hope to see many of you there!
Paul :)
