Hey There!

Wayne and I are helping Forest Ethics plan actions on Monday, May 5th in Hoffman Estates (Sears Headquarters) and in Chicago at their store at State & Madison at 11:30.

We're also holding an action planning and training meeting on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30pm at my place in the loop (message me for directions)

Details are below. Hope you can make it out!

As you probably know, ForestEthics is campaigning to expose the
destructive side of Sears. Best known for being the original catalog
producer, Sears is currently producing a lot of forest destruction. Sears
sends out an estimated 425 million catalogs a year ?using enough catalog
paper to completely wrap the Sears Tower 6 times a day, every day. These
catalogs are printed on paper with almost no post-consumer recycled content,
and the company refuses to make real commitments to protect Endangered
Forests like Canadašs Boreal Forest that are cut down to supply that paper.

On May 5th, Sears is holding their annual shareholders meeting
outside Chicago. ForestEthics will be there, and we hope you will be, too.
Wešre holding an introductory meeting on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30pm to
tell you more about this campaign and plan for the action May 5th. This
event will be at the home of a volunteer in downtown Chicago (please email
for directions) and will include a multimedia presentation on junk mail and
forest destruction, a training on action planning, and a chance to plan out
the details of our AGM action. Then, on May 5th, wešll be at the Sears
storefront in downtown Chicago at State St. and Madison St. at 11:30am. We
hope you can join us for both events. For more details and directions,
contact Linda Wells at (415) 863-4563, x329 or Linda@forestethics.org.
