"Fur is Dead" on the Streets - Demonstration in Hamilton

Fri 7:00 PM
Location
Gore Park

1 King St W
Hamilton, ON L8P1A4

Estimated attendance:  2  people attended.

We'll be showing the public PETA's "What's wrong with Fur" (http://www.petatv.com...) using a video projector that will create a large, clear, 5 foot (or larger), DVD quality image. People can then see for themselves the cruelty involved in producing and buying fur products and be able to make a more educated decision on the winter clothing they decide to purchase.

Please remember that 85% of animals for fur are fur-farmed and live their entire, short lives, in cages that are not even big enough for them to stretch. They are denied most natural instincts such as mating, being with their families, eating natural food, and running freely in the the sun.

WHEN: Friday, September 28, 2007

TIME: 7:00PM - 9:00PM

Here is a video of a 27" TV presentation event in Toronto:

http://www.youtube.co...

Activists are required to talk to people, hand out literature, stickers, guard equipment (projector), and hold signs.

This event is so effective that a mere glimpse of the sound and video itself is often enough to change a person perception on fur products. Literature would only be handed out to those who would want to know more, and in our last Toronto demonstration we had three people walk up to us and join in to help out.

This event is weather permitting; cancelled if raining.

This was our first projected outdoor video presentation. Laura and I were able to run the demonstration just by ourselves. We started at 7:00pm and had the projector on 'economy mode' which means dim light and the picture was still extremely bright and crisp. We turned the megaphone up only about 1/3 and two bylaw police told us they could hear it from 3 blocks away. Thanks for the sound check, oops. We turned it down so it could only be heard 1 block away, lol. People were disgusted when they saw the images. Most took the literature. NONE of the literature around the area was tossed on the ground! Many people talked to us about how cruel they though it was. I told them the best thing they could do was to 'spread the word' and to do it with compassion. This protest emphasized that fur collars cause more harm then full length fur coats as there are so many more coats with fur collars. We are just showing people this video so they can make a more educated decision.
