PETLAND (PUPPY MILL) PROTEST
Saturday, January 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: Petland of the Heights (front sidewalk)
2255 Lee Road
Cleveland Heights OH 44118

Signs and leaflets will be provided

Please join our peaceful demonstration and help us to urge shoppers to boycott Petland and all stores that support the cruel puppy mill industry!!

The Humane Society of the U.S. went public with an eight-month investigation of Petland recently. It revealed that the Petland chain is the nation's largest retail supporter of puppy mills. Each store they investigated was found to be profiting off the unseen suffering of dogs in puppy mills while telling unsuspecting customers that the dogs only come from good breeders.

Just wanted to thank ALL you hard-core activists for showing up to protest puppy mills on this frigid day!! INCREDIBLE turnout considering the weather and super positive response from everyone driving/walking by. We were getting honks even before the "honk if you hate puppy mills" sign came out! A kind stranger took pity on us standing out there in there cold and even stopped by with hot coffee and tea for us!! Donatos was awesome as well for letting us hang out in there to warm up.

I didn't get to go... I had the flu. I'd love to hear what people had to say about the protest. How did the public respond? Did you get to hand out much literature? Did you feel that you were able to make a difference (i.e. was it worth it?) Did you have a special moment or experience? I'd love to know details. :)

It's supposed to warm up a little this Saturday -- close to 20 degrees. Please don't let the cold deter you! We can alternate and take breaks to warm up inside the Stone Oven or Phoenix Coffee so no one will lose any digits!! :-) Do dress WARM though!!! Lots of layers... See you Saturday!!

Don't forget we don't have fur! Bundle up against the wind chill to keep the demonstration going.

If puppy mill owners could be sentenced to live for even just one week in a cage exactly like the cages in which their animals are left to suffer, in exactly the same conditions (i.e. no or filthy water, no protection from extreme temperatures, horrible filth and stench, cage wire to walk on, excrement and urine dripping upon them from cages above...), that would make me feel just a little bit of joy.
